Start with the symptom you can see. Round Trip’s refusal paths leave source unchanged, so an exact message is useful evidence, not a warning to work around blindly.
Installing symptoms
| Symptom | Check | Fix |
|---|
| The Setup Wizard opens every time you choose Graph View. | Open Project Settings > Round Trip and look at the source include paths. | Add at least one folder containing the C# you want indexed, then save the project settings. |
|---|
| Unity reports that RoundTrip.Core, RoundTrip.Engine or one of their dependencies cannot be loaded. | Inspect the installed package in Package Manager and confirm its Runtime/Plugins folder is present. | Remove and reinstall the same Round Trip package version so the packaged DLL set is restored. Do not copy development build outputs into the package by hand. |

Reading symptoms
| Symptom | Check | Fix |
|---|
| A class is missing from the Explorer. | Confirm the script folder appears under Project Settings > Round Trip and that Unity has finished compiling. | Select the folder in the Project window and choose Assets > Round Trip > Add Folder to Round Trip, then let the index refresh. |
|---|
| A gray placeholder node appears in the method. | Select the node and read the unsupported statement or expression named in the right rail. | Edit that construct in C#. When the file changes, Round Trip re-parses the method. Compile stays refused while a non-design placeholder remains. |
|---|
| The Console fills with Round Trip parser warnings as soon as the window opens. | Read the package version in Package Manager. From 0.89.0 the background scan that runs when the window opens logs parser errors only. Warnings about a method appear when you open or edit that method. | Update to 0.89.0 or later. Read any warning that remains with its method selected, since it is about the method you opened. |

Compiling symptoms
| Symptom | Check | Fix |
|---|
| Compile is disabled. | Hover the toolbar Compile. The tooltip says nothing to save when no draft is pending, compiling… while Unity compiles or imports, and Fix the pending change that needs attention before compiling. when a pending edit, such as a guard that is not ready, must be finished first. | Make a supported graph edit, wait for Unity to finish, or finish or undo the pending edit. The Previewing your changes. panel and the filled Compile pill appear together. |
|---|
| The message says the file changed while compiling. | An IDE, Unity import or another tool changed the file after Round Trip planned the write. | Let the method reload from disk, discard the stale draft, remake the edit and try Compile again. |
|---|
| A status says Unity could not compile the file. | Read the line number and error in the message. Round Trip reads the method back from the file, so the canvas shows what the file holds and the next Compile is accepted. | Fix that line in C#, or make the visual edit again and press Compile. The graph updates once the file compiles. |
|---|
| Compile shows a refusal naming a C# construct. | Read the whole message. A refusal leaves the method unchanged and identifies the construct that could not be written faithfully. | Edit that construct in C#, save the file and let the graph re-parse. See the current limitation list before rebuilding the visual edit. |

Teams symptoms
| Symptom | Check | Fix |
|---|
| The same method has a different layout on another machine. | Open Project Settings > Round Trip and read the layout storage scope. | Local scope stores configuration under <Project>/UserSettings/RoundTrip per machine. Choose shared scope and commit the <Project>/RoundTrip graph configuration when the team wants one layout. |
|---|
If the symptom remains after the listed check, copy the exact message and take it to Help. Include the source class and method, package version and Unity version.
