Shortcuts
Use the keyboard and pointer gestures that cover class search, rail navigation, editing, wiring, and history.
On this page
The fastest Round Trip workflow keeps one hand on search and the other on the canvas. Text fields keep their normal editing keys; graph shortcuts run when a text input does not own the event.
The problem
Section titled “The problem”Following a bug across three classes can turn into a tour of tiny buttons. Search and rail navigation have direct gestures, as do source history and graph edits, but only if you know which surface has focus.
When to reach for it
Section titled “When to reach for it”Use shortcuts when you already know the next class, member, or edit. Keep context menus for actions you use less often, such as Split Pins, Edit Catch Clauses, or Remove Reroute.
See it
Section titled “See it”The shortcut table is the visual reference. Read the key in the first column, the action in the second, and the surface that must own focus in the third.

The current editor implementation also accepts Cmd/Ctrl+O for the class picker. Cmd/Ctrl+K is the documented class-finding shortcut used throughout these guides.
-
Press Cmd/Ctrl+K, type part of a Platformer class name, move with Up or Down, and press Enter.
-
Press Cmd/Ctrl+P, search for a method, and activate the result.
-
Focus the method rail. Move with Up and Down, expand a group with Right, and open a child with Enter.
-
Select a node, copy and paste it, then undo and redo. Watch the toolbar buttons track the same history.
-
Double-click a wire, move the new reroute knot, then Alt-click the wire to break it. Undo to restore the connection and its route.
-
Select two nodes and right-click one. The align entries show the same keys as this table (⇧W and so on on macOS). Close the menu and press Shift+A to align their left edges.
What it writes
Section titled “What it writes”Shortcuts invoke the same actions as their buttons and menus. Cmd/Ctrl+S writes pending drafts through Compile; navigation and selection keys write nothing. Copy remains inside Round Trip’s graph clipboard.
When it goes wrong
Section titled “When it goes wrong”When it goes wrong
| Symptom | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Delete removes text instead of a node. | Look for a focused text editor in the right rail or a literal. | Commit or cancel the text edit, return focus to the canvas, then delete the selection. |
| Undo changes typed text instead of the graph. | Check which control owns keyboard focus. | Leave the text field before using graph undo. |
| Alt-click does not break anything. | Confirm the pointer is over a rendered wire or connected pin. | Use the wire context menu and choose Break Link when the hit area is crowded. |
- Classes and members: apply the rail keys to real overloads and accessors.
- Layout, reroutes, and comments: use the pointer gestures with persistent layout.
- Preview and Compile: understand what Cmd/Ctrl+S writes.
